nest

Suddenly a nest appears.
And underneath the nest traces of animal habitation.
Which bird built this nest? And where is he now?

In an attempt to contribute to mobilizing people to join the climate march in connection with the international climate negotiations in Paris, I built a nest against the facade of the Permeke Library in Antwerp.

(Around the same time I built a similar nest against the facade of the auditorium of Ghent University for the same reason.)

er hangt een nest van een vogel
mijn vriend denkt dat het van een winterkoninkje is
al bouwen die doorgaans geen nesten rond deze tijd
in Requiem for a Species schrijft Clive Hamilton

if you have your head in the oven and your feet in the freezer
your average temperature may be unchanged but you are still pretty uncomfortable

daar moest ik aan denken bij het aanschouwen van deze nesterij

Between 2015 and 2017, Benjamin Verdonck realised a series of installations, actions, miniature shows and activities in which he tries to address the absence of a public debate on the inevitable changes gradually taking place in our ecosystem. Working title for this cycle was EVEN I MUST UNDERSTAND IT. His actions took different shapes throughout the process, like a representation, a lecture, an exhibition or an installation in public space.
