een nieuw jaarlijks intrederitueel voor de Leuvense studenten
dat in 2025 de start van het academiejaar markeert
om in volgende jaren uit te groeien tot een evenknie van de togati, de stoet van professoren

het werd een optocht van het centraal station naar de grote markt
waarbij tientallen rolkoffers voortgetrokken werden.
het enerverende geluid van de rolkoffers,
voorbode van de terugkeer van de studenten in Leuven,
werd vele malen versterkt en knalde ruim een half uur lang door de Bondgenotenlaan.
Ondertussen werd er geroepen ‘Guess who’s back? We are back!’
Eenmaal aangekomen op de grote markt zong een koor,
begeleid door een orkest de State of the Student.
Het libretto van deze compositie werd geschreven met woorden
die de studenten het jaar daarvoor aanreikten
en werd talloze malen herhaald en meegezongen: 

study for learning learning for thinking thinking for knowing knowing for understanding understanding for freedom freedom for compassion compassion for love for study (da capo).

a new annual welcoming ritual for students in Leuven

a new annual welcoming ritual for Leuven students,
marking the start of the academic year in 2025
and set to grow into a counterpart to the togati, the procession of professors, in the coming years

it became a parade from the central station to the main market square,
with dozens of wheeled suitcases being pulled along.
the exciting sound of the wheeled suitcases,
heralding the return of the students to Leuven,
was amplified many times over
and echoed through Bondgenotenlaan for over half an hour.
meanwhile, people shouted, “Guess who’s back? We are back!”
once they arrived at the main market square,
a choir, accompanied by an orchestra, sang the State of the Student.
